The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights
Wednesday, February 8, 10:00 a.m. and noon
Recommended for grades 6 through 12
The Writers’ Theatre presents this touring one-woman show that follows a young Chicago student’s personal evolution while studying the Civil Rights Movement. Using poetry, hip-hop and history the performance features stories of both celebrated and unsung Chicago-based Civil Rights Activists, with one actress transforming into many different characters. Each performance is followed by a 15 minutes talk back discussion between the actress and the audience. Every registered school will receive a Study Guide. Experience the life of a sailor aboard a tall ship and learn about the roots of our continuing maritime heritage through song and story.
